I chose the title Broken Mirrors because like breaking a mirror, it has a taboo connotation. I am interested in dispelling myths while creating my own through my paintings. And like mirrors, this art is a reflection of me—a visual accumulation of my experiences. This collection is autobiographical, and it has been a means of self-discovery. By channeling my subconscious, I was able to delve deeper into my being to push the boundaries of my creativity. These paintings all began as intimate drawings in a sketchbook in which I released all of my inhibitions — and those inhibitions are the mirrors I have broken.
